Many times in my life I have encountered the police and dreaded the consequence. Today, I want to just thank two officers from the Beloit Police Department with regard to my daughter.
I have been trying for a long time to get my daughter to get the help she needed as far as her mental health is concerned. When I came to Beloit, the first time I had police contact was not very friendly and ended with a deferred prosecution class.
Recently, I found out that not only did an officer respond to the help my daughter needed, but also protected her from being harmed and stayed with her throughout the crisis. I was very upset that no one would tell me where my daughter was, so I investigated this on my own and found her at Beloit Memorial Hospital.
I have contacted Rock County Crisis Intervention several times over the past year to try and secure stabilization for my daughter, but somehow she always left the county before they could help.
Today, I am thanking Officer Daley and Officer Valdez for protecting my daughter from harm she could have done to herself or being harmed by someone else.
I do not have a lot of money but what I do have is prayer, and the entire Beloit Police Department, especially Officer Daley and Officer Valdez, are in my prayers.
Thank you, sirs, for your service and God be with you all and keep you safe on your daily rounds. People like you do make a difference.
A grateful mother
