As a Wisconsin voter I am an advocating citizen for governmental leadership assuring continued access for health insurance coverage for individuals and families with pre-existing medical conditions.
A Beloit Daily News (January 13, 2019) article stated Wisconsin Assembly GOP Outline Priorities. A quote from that article states, "The Republicans' first bill they intend to pass is a state-level guarantee that people with pre-existing conditions can't be denied insurance ..."
Wisconsin legislators are given a fresh opportunity to work together and bring health care equity to Wisconsin's tax-paying citizens. Representative Amy Loudenbeck, R-Clinton, lead by saying, "This legislation will make us a leader in the Midwest on pre-existing conditions coverage ... regardless of changes in the national leadership." Representative Mark Spreitzer, D-Beloit, "said he felt the bill didn't go far enough, but said he supported the measure to create a starting point ..." (Quotes from Beloit Daily News, January 24, 2019).
Representative Loudenbeck, Republican, and Representative Spreitzer, Democrat, have demonstrated a brave bipartisan first step in Wisconsin legislative leadership by addressing this difficult issue. May others, both in Wisconsin and nationally, have the spirit and valor to see this difficult problem through to successful resolution.
