I was once told that one of the things that old men do is that when they pick up the daily newspaper, they read the obituaries.
The other day I picked up the Beloit Daily News and as I always do, I turned to the obituaries. I was immediately saddened as I read about the passing of Helen Forbeck.
Helen was someone special, who always seemed to be doing something for someone, or for her community. For those of us who have been around Beloit for a while, we remember her from the city council. Possibly we remember her working for Les Aspin when he was a congressman, and when he was secretary of defense for our nation.
No matter where we would run into Helen, she always had a smile and a good word. She was tireless in doing good deeds for her community, and others. She was a role model for all of us. She is deeply missed.
Goodbye, old friend, may the Lord continue to bless you and hold you close.
