BELOIT - With the Stateline Family YMCA's Second Annual Corporate Cup event kicking off on Sept. 6, there are lots of games being played across the area for a good cause.

Community Cup is a community-wide event that brings local organizations and their employees together to raise funds for the YMCA's Annual Strong Kids Campaign which provides underserved youth and families the chance to participate in YMCA programs. This year 16 companies with more than 900 participants are involved. Last year the event attracted 12 companies and raised around $22,000.

Stateline Family YMCA President/CEO Ann Hankins said organizers are hoping to drum up even more funds with increased participation.

The competition includes a variety of events such as athletic events such as tug-o-war, dodgeball, kickball and many more as well as other festivities such as trivia night, a paint and sip, a scavenger hunt and other activities.

"The Corporate Cup at the Stateline Family YMCA is a community competition between local organizations and businesses, promoting fitness, health and teamwork in the workplace," Hankins said. "But, above all, it is a way to make an impact on underserved youth and families in the communities we serve as all the proceeds from Corporate Cup go towards our Annual Strong Kids fund which provides opportunities to learn, grow and thrive at the YMCA, regardless of one's ability to pay and it's fun."

Festivities will conclude tonight with an awards ceremony at 7 p.m. on Monday at the Eclipse Center. The top teams in each division will be awarded the corporate cup.

The sponsors are as follows: presenting sponsor, Blackhawk Bank; major sponsors, Viking Lanes, Brian Thomas Photography, The Eclipse Center, Merrill & Houstons, PlayMonster, Frito Lay, Beloit Health Systems and ABC Supply; and training sponsors, TRICOR Insurance, Savant Capital Management and Allstate Insurance-Lucia Hauge Agency.
