.

More than 40 speakers representing a multitude of careers visited Turner Middle School on Feb. 6 as part of the annual Career Day. Each year, as a part of transitions class, eighth grade students get a day off from classes to learn first hand about careers. This year’s event was organized by Erika Heikkinen and Marshall Reese. Career Day is the culminating event of the extensive Careers Unit which involves students finding their strengths, researching a chosen career and going through an intricate job hiring process (including filling out applications, writing resumes, conducting interviews and building portfolios). Many community members provided insights into their professional careers including NBC15 News Anchor and Janesville native Tim Elliott as well as local radio personalities Mike Austin and Jon Meerdink from WJVL.
