Ozinga brings new jobs to Stateline Area

Ozinga acquired its Beloit facility at the end of February. The facility, at 863 E. Philhower Road, previously had been owned by Beloit Ready Mix.

BELOIT— After acquiring three facilities in Rock County in 2016, Ozinga is looking to hire up to 25 employees in the Rock County area as soon as possible.

Ozinga is a fourth-generation business supplying concrete, aggregate materials and energy solutions in Wisconsin.

Ritch Dembinsky, executive vice president for Ozinga’s Wisconsin region, said Ozinga acquired its Beloit facility at the end of February. The facility, at 863 E. Philhower Road, previously had been owned by Beloit Ready Mix.

He said Ozinga also acquired facilities in Janesville and Edgerton at the end of March from the company Churchill Concrete. The Edgerton plant will be online next week.

Dembinsky said Ozinga was interested in coming to the Stateline Area, because the company already was delivering in Belvidere, Illinois, and saw an opportunity in Rock County.

“We are working our way up the corridor,” Dembinsky said.

Ozinga is a family-owned company that has 11 facilities throughout the state of Wisconsin, with a headquarters in Milwaukee.

“Being this is a family business, being a good neighbor is huge in our book,” Dembinsky said.

He said this is why the company kept on all of the employees at the three facilities and why Ozinga wants local employees to apply for their jobs. The former owner of Beloit Ready Mix stayed to work in Ozinga’s sales departmnet, said Dembinsky. Locally, Dembinsky said the company has received a warm welcome.

However, he said his organization will be making some changes. This is why the extra positions are needed.

One of these changes is the delegation of tasks.

“We don’t want to have one person having eight different hats,” Dembinsky said.

Along with creating positions to handle the amount of work, Dembinsky said the companies will do both commercial and residential projects that would call for fully staffed quality control, dispatch and maintenance crews.

In the past year and a half, Ozinga also has purchased 70 new ready mix trucks and has installed a new dispatch center in its Milwaukee office at 9000 W. Chester St.
