Donkey dies after pitbull attack

Bob and Anne Hannawell of the 1900 block of E. Colley Road in Turtle Township suffered a devastating loss when their miniature pet donkey “Little E” was viciously attacked by two Beloit pitbulls. With more than 100 puncture wounds, Little E. died on Feb. 2.

Rock County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the call about the donkey at 12:08 a.m. on Jan. 31. Neighbors had contacted authorities after they saw a male and female pitbull attacking the donkey.

The dogs will be returned to the owner., Roseann Samuel, 44, of the 1300 block of Randall Street in Beloit.

Samuel was arrested for the misdemeanor of dogs causing damage. She also received two municipal citations for dogs running at large, second offense; a municipal citation for a dog not having a valid rabies vaccination; and two more municipal citations for the dogs not being licensed. Wood said the dogs will be returned to the owner.
