Two people were pronounced dead on the scene of a single vehicle crash today, Sunday, March 9, shortly after 3 a.m. in the Town of Beloit.
According to a news release from the Town of Beloit Police Department, the crash occurred at 3:06 a.m. on Highway 51 near Briar Lane. A red Jeep SUV was traveling south on Highway 51 when it left the roadway and hit a utility pole, according to the news release.
Both occupants of the vehicle were pronounced dead on the scene. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
The Town of Beloit and City of Beloit police responded to the crash, as did the Rock County Sheriff's Office.
Highway 51 was closed for more than four hours as the scene was investigated and crash scene cleanup occurred.
