BELOIT - With a busy week on tap, Beloit Memorial's boys soccer team needed to test some of its depth Tuesday night.

Sophomores James Castellanos and Johnny Leon came off the bench to lead the Purple Knights to a 4-0 non-conference victory over visiting Evansville at Jacobson Field.

Castellanos scored a pair of goals and Leon contributed a goal and an assist as Beloit improved to 6-1-0 on the season.

The Knights scored two goals in each half. Danny Salazar put the hosts on top when he scored off an assist by Omar Munoz at the 24:45 mark of the first half. Castellanos made it 2-0 at 37:13 with a header off a terrific pass by Leon.

Castellanos was back in business at 71:47 on an assist by Bernardo Plascencia and Leon scored his goal at 82:20 off an assist by Luis Perez.

"The boys played a very solid game," Beloit head coach Brian Denu said. "We were able to possess the ball for long periods of time and had many dangerous attacking plays throughout the game. Every player on the roster contributed in tonight's win and will be relied on heavily this week."

Dennis Aragon and Davis Almanza split time in goal for the Knights to post the shutout. Aragon had two saves and Almanza had one.

Evansville goalies Charlie Bisch and Mason Hill combined for seven saves.

• UP NEXT: The Knights host Madison La Follette on Thursday. Friday and Saturday, they'll participate in Hononegah's Indian State Cup in Rockford.
