BELOIT - The Beloit Memorial boys volleyball team won its home opener Thursday night at Barkin Arena, defeating Edgewood 3-0. The Purple Knights won game won 25-6 and followed that with wins of 25-16 and 25-17.
Beloit was led by Brett Kiger and Jackob Patch, each of whom had eight kills. Kamryn Bach had six blocks, while Patch led the team in aces with three. Baylor Moore finished with 25 assists.
• GIRLS VOLLEYBALL: The Beloit Memorial volleyball team fell to 0-2 in Big Eight conference play after falling at Sun Prairie Thursday night.
The Purple Knights were swept 25-10, 25-6 and 25-15. Coach Kim Gamble said the team made fewer errors than they did Tuesday against Janesville Craig, but weren't able to break through to win a game.
• BELOIT TURNER 3, PARKVIEW 1: The Trojans scored a road victory over Parkview, winning 19-25, 25-21, 25-15, 25-22.
The Vikings were led by Madison Felmeted, who had six kills and two blocks. Hailey Thomas finished with six aces, while Payton Segerstrom had 20 assists and Sarah Olin had 12 digs. No leaders were reported for Turner.
• PREP SOCCER: FREEPORT 1, HONONEGAH 0: The Pretzels held off the visiting Indians Thursday, scoring the only goal when senior Payton Shockey scored a second-chance goal midway through the first half.
Hononegah fell to dropped to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in NIC-10 play, while Freeport is now 3-0 in conference place.
