GRAND CHUTE, Wis. - The Beloit Snappers won their second straight game over Wisconsin Wednesday night, defeating the Timber Rattlers 4-1 with late flourish.
The Snappers plated three runs in the top of the ninth inning, with the key hit coming on a two-run triple by Logan Farrar that plated Hunter Hargrove and Jordan Devencenzi, both of whom singled with one out in the inning.
Jesus Lopez followed Farrar's triple with an extra-base hit of his own, doubling to plate Farrar and make it 4-1.
Beloit received outstanding pitching all evening, with starter Ivan Andueza going the first five innings and Mitchell Jordan hurling the last four.
Andueza allowed the Rattlers' only run while giving up three hits and striking out six. Jordan (1-0) allowed just two hits in four scoreless frames to earn the win.
Gabe Friese allowed the three ninth-inning runs to fall to 0-2 on the season. Hargrove went 2-fo-3 to extend his hitting streak to 11 games, while Devencenzi and Lopez each added two hits.
The teams will play the rubber match of the rare five-game series Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
