JANESVILLE - Beloit Memorial's softball team swept a pair of Big Eight Conference games from Janesville Parker, in contrasting styles.
After blowing out the Vikings in th first game, 11-0 in five innings, the Purple Knights rallied to pull out a 4-2 victory in the nightcap at the Janesville Youth Sports Complex.
Winning pitcher Jacey Walker allowed only a single in the second inning as she struck out six.
The Knights were led offensively by Tayana Roman, who was 4-for-4 with a two-run homer run and three runs batted in. Hannah Sirechi was 3-for-4, Miranda Mechanic 2-for-3 and Brynn Swanson and Walker 2-for-4 apiece as the Knights banged out 15 hits.
• Swanson pitched the second game for the Knights and went the distance, allowing five hits with three strikeouts. Beloit, the home team for game two, trailed 2-1 heading to the bottom of the sixth.
Angelique Spencer led off the inning with a single and came all the way around to score on a double by Natalie Bittner. Sirechi's RBI double then put the Knights on top 3-2. Roman gave them a two-run cushion with an RBI single.
