YMCA's gymnasts off to a successful start

BELOIT - The Stateline YMCA Gymnastics Team have had a strong start to their season, competing in four meets, including one at home.

There are currently 38 aspiring gymnasts on the squad with YMCA Director of Gymnastics and Healthy Living Ashley Hoverson always looking for more. If interested, contact her at ahoverson@statelineymca.org.

So far, the YMCA gymnasts have competed in meets in Waukesha, Milwaukee, Monroe and their home gym.

• The Level 4's and Level 7's took home second place in Waukesha's Bling It On meet Nov. 4-5. Naomi Wilson of Level 4 took first All-Around with a score of 34.55. She was first in floor (9.1), and bars (8.7) and second in vault (8.7). Right behind her was teammate Kayda Bakkestuen in second overall at 33.75. She was first in beam (9.4) and third in floor (8.2). Raegan Jones was third in All-Around (33.90) and Alisa Redzepagic was fourth (32.8).

Hannah Matrick was second overall for the 7's (34.00) with a second in vault (8.7)and thirds in floor (8.7) and bars (8.0). Teammate Amber Wald was first in floor (9.05) and fourth in All-Around (33.65).

In the Level 2's, Devlyn Halverson was fourth in All-Around (35.65) after finishing first in vault (9.45) and second in beam (9.1). In the Xcel Silver division, Kylie LaChance was fourth in All-Around (35.85), taking second in floor (9.3) and bars (9.4).

The the gymnasts' home meet on Nov. 19, the following took first All-Around in their respective levels: Lexie LaChance (Xcel Gold), Kylie LaChance (Xcel Silver), Naomi Wilson (Level 4), Reagan Jones (Level 4), Ava Mueller (Level 2) and Chloe Hatfield (Level 1).

Lexie LaChance scored 35.25 All-Around points, including first in beam (9.1) and floor (9.2). Kylie LaChance had 35.55 points in All-Around, scoring first in bars (9.3). Wilson was first in everything: floor (9.05), vault (8.8), bars (9.1), beam (9.0) and All-Around (35.95). Jones was first in floor (8.55), bars (8.85) and beam (8.9) and scored 34.20 in All-Around.

Mueller was first in floor (9.05), vault (9.3), beam (8.9) and All-Around (35.35). Hatfield was first in vault (9.40), bars (9.25) and beam (9.05) and All-Around (36.70).

"The gymnasts have been working really hard in the gym and are excited for the rest of the competition season," Hoverson said.
