BELOIT - The Beloit College women's basketball team couldn't keep the momentum going or the shots falling Saturday afternoon.

After thumping Grinnell College, 79-56, for their first Midwest Conference victory Friday night, the Bucs couldn't get much rolling in a 73-42 loss to Monmouth College Saturday at Flood Arena.

The Scots held Beloit to just 29 percent shooting (14-49). The Bucs fell behind by 15 in the first quarter and didn't have a comeback in them.

Junior Shelby Kline and senior Jaylan Dunn each had 10 points to lead the Bucs (2-5, 1-2), who are back in action Thursday night at Ripon College (3-3, 1-1).

• Friday, the Bucs put four players in double figures as they shot 42.9 percent (27-63). Kline had 26 points and junior Lauren Glaser chipped in 15. Melissa McLean added 12 points and Candace Cunningham had 10.

Defense was also key as the Bucs allowed only five points in the second quarter and led by 19 at the half, 37-18.

The Bucs were able to extend the lead to as high as 32 (70-38) .

Beloit converted seven three-pointers, including three by Glaser, and outrebounded Grinnell, 43-39. McLean had 10.
