MADISON, Wis. - It was a solid close to a terrific season for the Beloit Memorial Purple Tide girls swimming team.

Four members of the Tide participated in two events at the WIAA Division 1 State Swimming Championships, held at the University of Wisconsin Natatorium Saturday.

Senior Heaven Wells, a UW-Milwaukee commit, placed 20th in the 100 butterfly with a time of 58.95 seconds.

Wells, Clare Santas, Jayda Bessel and Amya Bessel placed 19th in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:41.04, good for the second-fastest time in school history.

"We improved in both time and place," Beloit Memorial assistant coach Dick Vogel said. "This is a really fast meet, as it should be. I'm really proud of these young women. With the core we have coming back, our future is very bright."
