Samuel L. Gonzales; 67, of County Road NN Elkhorn died unexpectedly Thursday March 28, 2013 at his residence. Sam was born February 17, 1946 in Beloit, WI. He was the son of Henry and Mary (Fitzgerald) Gonzales. Sam was united in marriage to the former Karen K. Albert on November 25, 1967 in Monroe, WI. 

Sam Graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a Masters Degree in History Education. He taught Social Studies at Denison Junior High and Lake Geneva Middle School for over 34 years, retiring in 2001. Sam was a true American patriot. He was a firm believer in teaching his students all about the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. He was a member of the NRA and Support the Troops. He was very involved with Lake Geneva Teachers Association as a negotiator and WEAC Teacher Union lobbing for the union as a PAC member in Washington, DC. Other interests included hunting, outdoor pursuits, collecting and restoring antique cars, and writing. Sam was a published author. Favorite time was spent at his home on numerous projects and imparting his wisdom; teaching his grandchildren life’s lessons. Sam was a good, talented, honest, loving man who was devoted to his family. 

He is survived by his wife of 45 years Karen, two children: Jenny (Robert) Janas of Kailua, HI and Jason (Kimberly) Gonzales of Elkhorn, WI., five grandchildren: Ted and Samuel Janas, Addy, Alex and Aren Gonzales. His parents: Henry and Mary Gonzales of So. Beloit, WI., one sister: Linda (Don) Stoikes of Mineral Point, WI and one brother: Gary Gonzales of Beloit, WI. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Wednesday April 3, 2013 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church 107 W. Walworth St. Elkhorn, WI with Father Michael Dineen officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home 730 N. Wisconsin Street Elkhorn, WI. Memorials may be made in Sam’s name to: St. Patrick’s Catholic School.
