George W. Carpenter, 75, of Beloit, WI, died Friday, July 19, 2013 in Rockford Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born June 21, 1938 in Rockton, IL, the son of Seth Christopher and Nellie (Fisk) Carpenter. George was a 1956 graduate of Hononegah High School. He married Rosanne Anderson on July 21, 1957 in Roscoe, IL. She predeceased him on April 9, 1997. He later married Cheryl “Sherry” Demrow on May 6, 2004 in Las Vegas, NV. She predeceased him on January 4, 2012.

George was employed for 48 years by General Motors, Janesville, WI. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, fishing, bowling, and playing horseshoes. George was a life long Green Bay Packer fan. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose #191, Eagles Club Aerie #557 and General Motors Local #95 UAW.

Survivors include his children, Mark Carpenter of Pinellas Park, FL, Bill Carpenter and Kelley (Ron) Douglas both of Rockford, IL; nine grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and one on the way; brother, James (Shirley) Carpenter of Roscoe, IL; step daughters, Jodelle (Jamie) Ovist and Jennifer Blum and their families all of Beloit, WI; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, four sisters and two brothers.

A Loyal Order of the Moose #191 service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2013 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, followed by a funeral service with Reverend David Carlson officiating. Burial will be in Shirland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday in the funeral home.

A memorial will be established in his name at a later date.
