David Kilgore, 60, departed his earthly life on Friday, May 25th, 2012 in his home. He was born on November 27, 1951 in Woodland, Mississippi, the 4th son born into a family of 6 children to Paul Era and Mary Helen (Cousins) Kilgore. His 40 year union with Diana Rhea was blessed with a daughter, Natasha Kilgore.
David graduated from Beloit Memorial High School in 1969 where he lettered in baseball, basketball, football, and is an inductee in the Beloit Memorial High School Hall Of Fame. After graduation he signed a contract to play baseball with the New York Yankees. David worked as a machinist at Fairbanks Morse for over 35 years. He had a magnetic personality and people were drawn to him. He enjoyed gardening and planting flowers. David was a major part of the Gospel Express for several years. He had a special way of listen and conversing with the people who called into the radio station.
David is survived by his devoted partner Diana Rhea, daughter, Natasha Kilgore, sister, Glenda Kilgore, brothers, Paul E. (Elizabeth) Kilgore Jr., James Kilgore, Kenneth Kilgore, aunts, Ludie Garner, Gertrude Cousins, Dorthy Grace Murph, Inez Wilson, several nieces nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Rev. Paul E. Kilgore Sr., his mother Mary Helen Kilgore and brother Elbert Louis Kilgore.

Services are 12:00 p.m., Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Bethel AME Church 1413 Athletic Avenue in Beloit. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday at Hansen-Gravitt Funeral Home 424 Prospect Street in Beloit. Committal in Eastlawn Cemetery will follow the service.
