Ruby L. Churchill, 87, of Beloit, WI, died Friday, June 22, 2018 at her daughter's home in Madison, MS after her 15 month battle with lung cancer.
She was born June 4, 1931 in Newton, IA, the daughter of Levi and Grace (McPherson) Ruppert. Ruby attended South Beloit High School, South Beloit, IL. She married Robert L. Churchill on July 2, 1949 in the Old Stone Church, Rockton, IL.
Ruby was formerly employed by Freeman Shoe, after which she became a stay-at-home mom raising 3 children. She was a member of Central Christian Church.
Ruby enjoyed many things in her lifetime. Bob and Ruby remodeled their home together and made it the home of their dreams. Some of her passions included decorating their beautiful home, sewing, baking and time spent with friends. Bob was a willing tastetester to the many recipes she enjoyed trying out of her elaborate cookbook collection. She and Bob loved to go to auctions and collect items they both enjoyed. She loved planting flowers in her yard and planting vegetables in her garden. They were happily married for 66 years.
Survivors include her children, Deborah (Ron) Bladorn of Janesville, WI, Dennis (Kathleen) Churchill of Beloit, WI, and Karen Hansen of Madison, MS; grandchildren, Leah, Felicia, Malinda, Michael, Thomas, Chad and Daniel; nine great grandchildren; sister, Alvitta Rykowski of South Beloit, IL; brothers, Duanne Ruppert of Verona, WI, and Wydell (Marilyn) Ruppert of South Beloit, IL.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert Churchill, parents, Levi and Grace Ruppert, brother and sister-in-law, Laverne and Marion Ruppert, brother-in-law, Max Rykowski, sister-in-law, Barbara Ruppert, and son-in-law, Christopher Hansen.
A memorial service of remembrance for Ruby will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, September 9, 2018 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Chaplain Mark Maxted officiating. Inurnment will be in Floral Lawn Cemetery, South Beloit, IL.
Memorials may be given in her name to Beloit Regional Hospice.
