James J. "Jimmy Joe" Ramsey Sr., 84, of Beloit, WI, traded time for eternity early Monday morning August 6, 2018.
He joins the love of his life, his wife Dolly on the other side. He was born February 26, 1934 in Beloit, WI. Joe was the youngest child of Ralph R. and Evelyn B. (Foley) Ramsey.
Joe was a letter carrier at the Beloit Post Office for over four decades. He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church for over 50 years. Joe was an avid golfer. He was also an avid Chicago Bear and Chicago Cub fan. Joe was quite an athlete in his day. He was scouted by a Major League Baseball team who heard about this young talent named "Jimmy Joe'. Joe played softball for many years. He also played in the local Thanksgiving 'Turkey Bowl" football game for over four decades. He was known as 'coach' by many young boys whom he coached in the Pop Warner football and Little League baseball programs in Beloit. "Jimmy Joe" is a member of the Beloit Baseball Hall of Fame.
He married Jessie M. "Dolly" Dlask on July 17, 1954 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Beloit, WI. They were married for 54 years. She predeceased him on January 5, 2009. Survivors include his children, Susan Ramsey of Janesville, WI, David (Sally) Ramsey Sr. of Beloit, WI, Donald (Diana) Ramsey, Sally (Roger) Alexander, Daniel Ramsey, Douglas (Christine) Ramsey, James (Jennifer) Ramsey Jr., and special daughter Kathleen Mary Ramsey all of Beloit, WI; 19 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Lucille Stowers and Patsy Ramsey both of Beloit, WI.
He was predeceased by his parents, step mother Dorothy (Storely) Ramsey, brothers Vernon "Jack" Ramsey, Raymond "Bill" Ramsey and Dale Ramsey, sisters Charlotte "Shod" Hollis, Dorothy "Dot" Avery, granddaughter Amber L. Alexander and great grandson Michael L. Alexander.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial for Joe will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 11, 2018 in St. Jude Catholic Church, 737 Hackett Street, Beloit, WI. Burial will be in Mt. Thabor Cemetery, Beloit, WI. Visitation of remembrance will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with a Scripture Service at 4:45 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his name to Caritas.
