Dedie Sue Zinnecker, 82, of Willowbrook, IL and formerly of Beloit, WI and Rockton, IL, died Thursday, February 15, 2018 at home, surrounded by family.
Born on October 26, 1935 in Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin, Dedie was the daughter of Claudine (Hyne) Myrland and Isaac Edward Myrland. The tight-knit family moved to Beloit, Wisconsin, where Dedie spent her school years and young adulthood. She graduated in 1954 from Beloit Memorial High School, where she made dear, lasting friendships that she maintained throughout her life. On November 22, 1958 she married her beloved Emmett Joseph ("Joe") Zinnecker, Sr. at St. Peter's Church in South Beloit, IL. The union remained strong for nearly six decades until the recent passing of Joe, in November 2017.
Dedie flourished as a homemaker, active member of the PTA, and employee of Chapman's, where she worked for 13 years. Dedie's supportive nature and positivity led her to take joy in caring for others. She excelled as a wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and loyal friend. She and Joe were happiest when surrounded by family and friends, whom they always considered as extended family. Laughter filled their home, and the couple never stopped making new friends. Dedie also knitted and gardened with skill, but found the most satisfaction in being part of her friends, family, children and grandchildren's lives.
Dedie will be sorely missed by her devoted children, Emmett Joseph ("Joe") Zinnecker, Jr. (Carmela) of Downers Grove, IL and Lori Zinnecker Hoener (Webster) of Elmhurst, IL; grandchildren, Melissa Zinnecker (Downers Grove, IL), Michael Zinnecker (Farmington Hills, MI) and Matthew Zinnecker (Downers Grove, IL). Dedie was the dear aunt of Cheryl (Al) Bach (Roscoe, IL), Robert Zinnecker (Loves Park, IL), cousin of Holly Thronson LaVelle, Donna LaMar and Dale and Marlys Myrland, Stacey Lyle Bedward, and several great nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dedie's adoring parents preceded her in death in addition to her husband, brother-in-law Robert (Millie) Zinnecker and sister-in-law Catherine (Al) Volsch, as well as several aunts and uncles.
A Visitation of Remembrance for Dedie will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2018 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI. A Memorial Service of Remembrance will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Gretchen Sylvester of Bethel United Church of Christ of Elmhurst, IL, where Dedie and Joe happily worshipped. The March 10 services will conclude at the Rockton Cemetery, in Rockton, IL.
