Fredericka H. "Freddie" Tharp, 85, of Beloit, WI, died Saturday, December 2, 2017.
She was born May 8, 1932 in Titusville, PA, the daughter of Andrew and Louise (Olkowaski) Wesolowski. Freddie received her degree from Rock Valley College. She was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in Korea. Freddie married John V. Tharp on March 26, 1956 in Seattle, WA.
Freddie was formerly employed by Hawaiian Airlines, Seattle Telephone Company, Boeing Airlines, and Blackhawk Technical College. She received the Beloit Daily News Volunteer Award in 1995. Freddie raised funds for the Beloit YMCA and was a volunteer for Harbor for the Homeless, Meals on Wheels, Beloit Domestic Violence Center and Special Olympics. She was a member of the Junior Women, League of Women Voters and St. Thomas Catholic Church. Freddie was also active in the Catholic Church doing funeral luncheons at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church and St. Thomas Catholic Church, Saderfest, and spaghetti dinners.
Survivors include her husband, John V. Tharp of Beloit, WI; sons, Darrin A. (Dan) Tharp of Long Beach, CA, and Shawn P. (Kathleen) Tharp of Henderson, NV; grandchildren, Mackenzie Tharp and Keegan Tharp; father-in- law, Dale Watters of Waterloo, IA; special friends, Clauda, Randy, Mary, Mark and Mona.
She was predeceased by her parents.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial for Freddie will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2017 in St. Thomas Catholic Church, 824 E. Grand Ave., Beloit, WI. Visitation of Remembrance will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. Wednesday in the church. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements.
