Theodore "Ted" T. Stevenson, 91, of Beloit, WI, died Tuesday, November 28, 2017 in his home.

He was born August 6, 1926 in Rock Island, IL, to Theodore Lyle and Cecilia (DuBourg) Stevenson. Ted was a 1944 graduate of St. Joseph High School, Rock Island, IL. Ted joined the Army after high school and served in General MacArthur's Headquarters in Manila, the Philippine Islands, and Tokyo, Japan. After two years of service, he enrolled at St. Ambrose in Davenport, IA, where he received his B.A. in philosophy in 1950. He then attended the University of Iowa, receiving his Master's Degree in psychology in 1951. He married Laverne Joan Klarkowski on April 15, 1950 in Moline, IL.

Ted's career began at Farmall Works in Rock Island, and then in 1959 he was promoted and transferred to International Harvester's Headquarters in Chicago, IL. In 1963 he came to Beloit to join Fairbanks Morse and Colt Industries where he worked for the next 27 years and was chief company negotiator for three labor contracts. He retired in 1990 as Vice President for Industrial Relations.

He was very involved in community affairs. He served as President of the Board of Directors at Beloit Memorial Hospital and as a member of the Board of Beloit Savings & Loan. Other activities include his service on the Police and Fire Commission, the Beloit Community Foundation, the Opportunities Industrialization Center, and the Blackhawk Personnel Association. In retirement he was the president of his neighborhood's condominium association. Ted was a longtime member of the Beloit Country Club and served on its board of directors. He was also a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church. Ted enjoyed card playing and golf, and was proud of his hole-in-one.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Laverne of Beloit, WI; children, Ted (Jessie) Stevenson of Beloit, WI, Marsha (George Rugg) Stevenson of South Bend, IN, and Randy (Rosanna) Stevenson of New Port Richey, FL; grandchildren, Sophia Grace of Madison, WI and Theodore Cole Stevenson of Milwaukee, WI, and Gwendolyn Joan Rugg of Chicago, IL.

He was predeceased by his parents and son, Greg Stevenson.

Ted's family would like to express a heart-felt thank you to the many that helped Dad, especially Dr. Kenneth Gold and the staffs at Home Companion and Beloit Regional Hospice.

A service of remembrance will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 3, 2017 in Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 2222 Shopiere Road, Beloit, WI, with Fr. Michael Resop officiating. Inurnment will be in Mt. Thabor Cemetery. Visitation of remembrance will be from 12:45 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Sunday in the church. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements.
