Lester A. "Les" Nystrom, 99, of Beloit died on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 in Beloit, Wisconsin with family at his side.

He was born on February 7, 1918, in Crosby, Minnesota to Andrew W. and Helga Marie (Theorin) Nystrom. Les graduated from Crosby-Ironton Schools and from Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis. He began his career at Fairbanks-Morse in 1939, working in publications and advertising management, and retiring in 1982. Les was a proud member of the F.M. Quarter Century Club. A long-time member of Atonement Lutheran Church, he served on the church council, as church treasurer, and as a scoutmaster of the church troop. He was also active on the boards of the United Way, the Beloit Chamber of Commerce, and Beloit Memorial Hospital.

Les married Pauline Berg on April 2, 1944. Pauline and Les were loving and dedicated parents and grandparents. They enjoyed many years of summer vacations with family in Minnesota, traveling to historical venues in the United States, and after retirement spending winters in South Padre Island, Texas, where they annually reunited with many dear friends. Pauline passed away on February 27, 1997.

Survivors include his four children Mary (Michael) Brockman of Fort Madison IA, John A. (Carroll) Nystrom of Holland OH, Ruth (Jerry) Kremer of Carthage IL, and Sarah (Tim) Janz of Junction City, WI; grandchildren, Andrew Brockman of Iowa City IA, Elizabeth (Dr Brent) Woodbury of Ft. Madison, IA, Jason Nystrom (Cathy) of Baton Rouge LA, Robert Nystrom (Megan) of Seattle, WA, Scott Clausing (Tracy) of Toledo, OH, Heidi (Brian) Vincent of Chesterton, IN, Jacob Kremer (Cynthia) of Chicago IL, Gabriel Kremer of Carthage IL, Emily (Lucas) Lohr of Wausau WI, Hannah Janz of Stevens Point WI, and Laura Janz (fiancÚ Sajen) of Elroy, WI; six great grandchildren, Mia and Drew Woodbury, Gretchen and Lily Nystrom, Louisa and Anastasia Kremer; one brother, Arthur W. (Jean) of Brainerd, Minnesota; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers Wallace A. of Minneapolis and Marvin T. of Minneapolis.

The Nystrom Family expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the caring staff of Riverside Terrace and to Beloit Regional Hospice.

Funeral Service for Les will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2017 in Atonement Lutheran Church, 901 Harrison Avenue, Beloit, WI, with Reverend Nancy M. Raabe officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements. Memorials may be given in his name to Beloit Regional Hospice or Atonement Lutheran Church.
