ROSCOE — Law enforcement officials have recovered the purse and a cell phone belonging to a woman that was reported missing since Tuesday.

Winnebago County Sheriff’s officials say the purse of Katrina A. Smith, 30, was found Wednesday a short distance away from where her car was found near the corner of Obispo and Ventura in Machesney Park. On Thursday, Smith’s cell phone was recovered in the 700 block of Ralston in Machesney Park.

Smith was reported missing by her husband on Tuesday. Detectives have determined Smith was shopping between 7 and 8 p.m. Monday at a department store in the area of North Second Street and Rte 173 in Machesney Park. She then returned to her residence in Machensey Park and left around 9 p.m. to run additional errands, according to a news release from the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department.

An extensive search was conducted in the area where Smith’s car was found and family and friends of Smith also have been conducting serches.

Smith is married and her residence is on Tetterhall Lane in Machesney Park, however, she recently has been staying in Roscoe. She worked at Camryn Company in Belvidere, Ill., where she was employed in the human resource department.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the sheriff’s department at 815-319-6400 or Crime Stoppers at 815-963-7867.
