Only a week after announcing he will open a new McDonald’s restaurant in Byron, Ill., Stateline Area businessman Guy Bucciferro announced he will be the owner of a McDonald’s in Janesville.

Bucciferro will officially take ownership of the McDonald’s at 2610 W. Court St., Janesville, on Wednesday.

“We’ve expressed an interest in growing into the Janesville area since we came to Beloit,” Bucciferro said. “In the last three to four weeks, we have been in talks on this property.”

Bucciferro owns five McDonald’s restaurants in the Greater Beloit area. He owns restaurants in Beloit at 1443 Madison Road, 2881 Milwaukee Road and at 45 State St. In South Beloit he owns restaurants at 15766 Manchester Road and at 811 Prairie Hill Road.

Last week, Bucciferro announced he will build a new McDonald’s restaurant near the corner of Union and Blackhawk in Byron, Ill. He hopes to have the restaurant open and serving customers by October or November.

The Janesville McDonald’s employs 55 to 60 people. Cliff O’Beirne, who currently works at the Milwaukee Road McDonald’s in Beloit, will be the manager of the Janesville restaurant.

Bucciferro said one of the most exciting things about the recent acquisitions is it give his an opportunity to not only create jobs, but promote people who have been working with him for years.

“We had to re-evaluate the way we run the business and we ended up promoting 11 people in our restructuring,” he said.

There are other people who are excited about Bucciferro’s acquisition of the Janesville McDonald’s. It is the only McDonald’s he owns that has a Playland as part of the business.

“My 5-year-old son and my 2-year-old daughter are very excited about that,” he said.
