Beloit police arrest woman after pursuit

BELOIT - Beloit police arrested a Beloit woman following a vehicle pursuit on Tuesday afternoon and are still searching for the passenger, according to command staff.

Police were in the area of the 1400 block of Liberty Avenue looking to serve a warrant for alleged vehicle theft in Green County on David D. Weigelt, 36, after officers received information of his whereabouts. Before officers could contact him, Weigelt got into a silver Pontiac Grand Am and escaped from the area.

The pursuit was discontinued and the vehicle was later located at Beach and Sixth streets. The driver of the vehicle, Dawn M. Martinez, 37, was arrested in the area for fleeing an officer and recklessly endangering safety, according to command staff.
