Beloit cop is victim of hit-and-run crash

BELOIT - A Rockford woman has been arrested for striking a Beloit Police Department squad car on Saturday evening, according to Beloit police.

Theresa R. Stephens, 52, was arrested after she reportedly ran into a squad car on Grand Avenue and Short Street, with the officer sustaining non-life threatening injuries, at 6:01 p.m. Saturday, police said.

Stephens fled the scene of the crash and another officer located the suspect vehicle in the 600 block of Broad Street.

She was arrested on possible charges of operating while intoxicated - causing injury and hit and run - causing injury.
