JANESVILLE - The University of Wisconsin-Rock County will host its annual holiday concert on Dec. 13.
The concert's origins are disputed, giving way to the title "At Least the 46th Annual Holiday Concert," according to Vice Chair of UW-Rock's Music Department Jeff Suarez.
"It's something we're having fun with," Suarez said. "This is a long-standing tradition in the community and we really enjoy it."
This year's concert will feature holiday selections from LeRoy Anderson, Steve Reisteter, Mannheim Steamroller and other composers, Suarez said.
The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. in the Kirk Denmark Theatre on campus, 2909 Kellogg Avenue.
The concert band of around 50 members will play through Anderson's "Sleigh Ride" and "Christmas Festival" ahead of the modernized take on Mannheim's "Fum, Fum, Fum" by the famous new age classical group.
Suarez said the new take adds "more of a rock beat" behind the classical selection.
"We are all excited for the concert," he added. "It will be a fun time and it's been a treat to be able to rehearse with them."
Admission to this event is free, with a $2 suggested contribution. For more information about UW-Rock County, visit rock.uwc.edu.
