Judge James Daley announces retirement

JANESVILLE - Rock County Circuit Court Judge James P. Daley has announced he will retire on March 2.

Daley was appointed as Circuit Court Judge for Branch 1 of the Rock County Circuit Court by then Gov. Tommy Thompson, taking office on Jan. 7, 1989. He has served in the criminal and civil division, presently serving as Presiding Judge for the Criminal Division.

In 2013, Daley was appointed as Chief Judge of the Fifth Judicial Administrative District, the first time this position has been held by a judge outside Dane County.
