Welty sets events to celebrate return of spring birds

BELOIT - The Welty Environmental Center, 1201 Big Hill Court, Beloit, will hold two events to observe the return of birds to their summer homes.

"Birds of Big Hill Park" will be held from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. on March 9. This is a No School Friday event for ages 7-12 years old. Kids will hike through the park with binoculars looking for and identifying birds. Dress for the outdoors and bring a lunch. The cost is $20 for members and $25 for non-members.

"Gems of Blue" will take place from 10-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 24. Attendees will learn about bluebirds as they return to the park to begin nesting and also how to attract bluebirds to your backyard. All ages are welcome. The cost is $5 for members and $7 for non-members.
