Activities planned for Saturday at Welty Center

BELOIT - Welty Environmental Center, 1201 W. Big Hill Road, Beloit, has announced the following events for Saturday, Dec. 9:

"Braving the Cold" will take place from 10-11:30 a.m. The family program for all ages will explore what it takes for animals and plants to get through a cold winter. Kids will get to do a simple experiment demonstrating how some mammals are able to brave the cold. Unless severe weather hits, there will be a hike, so participants are encouraged to dress for the weather. The cost is $5 for members, $7 for non-members. Fee applies to children only. Hoo Haven will present the "Pelican Ambassador Program" from 6 - 7 p.m. Two of Hoo Haven's pelican ambassadors (and a special raptor) will be featured in the program sponsored by Ecolab Foundation. The all-ages program is offered free of charge but donations are encouraged. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for registered guests to be seated. Registration is required as seating is limited.
