'Choose Knudson as county sheriff'

Print Article

I believe sheriff's Commander Troy Knudson is the best choice for our new Rock County sheriff.

After 29 years in the department and several terms as sheriff in the 1990s, I learned a lot more about people, county politics, leadership and especially the value of experience.

There are three good candidates for sheriff, but what distinguishes Knudson is his vast experience, participating in so many areas and functions of the department, and impeccable integrity. His education and training, past commander of the SWAT team, experience as a K-9 handler, his rise through the ranks and more, is very impressive. He has managed both the large jail and law enforcement and operations, and has helped, prepared and presented the complex $20 million-plus budget to the County Board Staff Committee. Knudson has participated in the hiring, firing, disciplinary and promotional processes as well. Noteworthy also is his great attitude, work ethic and good relationship with the media.

For the readers, I have personally known and worked with Commander Knudson in the past, even in the K-9 program. He's a wonderful, well liked family man with two sons in college, and has, in my opinion worked long and hard to prepare himself to be sheriff.

He has demonstrated great leadership, management and people skills, along with a keen understanding of the entire operation. I'm proud to support Commander Troy Knudson for sheriff. Please consider this heartfelt, nonpolitical, unbiased endorsement as you consider your selection, and please vote.
