Beloit has regained the ignoble position of having the highest unemployment rate among the 32 communities tracked by the state.

Beloit had an unemployment rate of 11.7 percent in May, down from 11.8 percent in April.

Beloit has not had the highest unemployment rate in the state for 15 months. The last time Beloit had the highest rate was February of 2012 when the rate was 12.5 percent.

Rock County had the 19th highest unemployment rate among Wisconsin's 72 counties in May at 8 percent, down from 8.5 percent in April and down from 8.3 percent in May of 2012.
