Few problems seen with latest snowfall

Friday's snowfall caused few problems in the Stateline Area, as travelers and snowplows took the snow in stride.
The snow measurement at the Rockford Airport as of 5 p.m. Friday was 1.3 inches, according to the National Weather Service Web site. So far in January, 2.3 inches of snow has been recorded in Rockford and 31.2 inches has been recorded in Rockford since Dec. 1.
The Chicago Department of Aviation said Friday that the weather was to blame for more than 200 canceled flights at the city's O'Hare International Airport.
Delays averaged between 15 and 30 minutes.
Meteorologists with the National Weather Service in the Chicago suburb of Romeoville said the northern tier of Illinois could expect another band of storms Friday evening through Saturday afternoon. Forecasters say snow will spread from west to east across Illinois bringing an average of 3 to 4 inches of new snow overnight.
Stateline Area residents are reminded that a snow emergency has been declared in Beloit and South Beloit. The snow emergency in Beloit remains in effect until noon today and the snow emergency in South Beloit remains in effect until 1 p.m. today.
The National Weather Service forecast for the Stateline Area indicates there may be some lingering snow this morning. High temperatures will be in the lower 20s with northwest winds at 5 to 15 mph. Lows tonight will be around 3.
Sunday, there is a chance of light snow with highs in the lower 20s. Lows Sunday night will be around 13.
Monday, there is a 30 percent chance of light snow with highs in the lower 20s and lows near 1 Monday night.
Tuesday, highs will only be around 7 and lows will be around 2 below zero Tuesday night. There will be a 40 percent chance of light snow Tuesday night.
Wednesday will bring a 20 percent chance of light snow and highs of about 7. Lows Wednesday night will be around 9 below zero.
Thursday, high temperatures only will be around 2 and lows Thursday night will be around 14 below.
High temperatures Friday will be around 8 with a 30 percent chance of snow.
