Two injured in drive-by shooting
Two people were injured Friday afternoon in an apparent drive-by shooting at Liberty Avenue and Bluff Street, the Beloit Police Department said.
Authorities received the call just before 4:30 p.m. Two people were taken to Beloit Memorial Hospital, but one with critical injuries was later taken to a trauma center, Capt. Bill Tyler of the Beloit Police Department, said.
The wounded had been in a car when another vehicle pulled up beside it and began shooting, Tyler said.
Every unit was working on the case Friday evening, Tyler said. They had yet to learn of a motive in the shooting.
Sharon plans Christmas event
SHARON - The Sharon Victorian Christmas has been canceled, but some volunteers are seeking to have Christmas activities in the village anyway.
An Old Fashioned Christmas celebration is planned for 6-8 p.m. Dec. 5. There will be a Christmas tree lighting at Veteran's Park. There will be a reading of “Twas the Night Before Christmas” at the gazebo. There will be carolers and street musicians and other activities.
All activities are volunteer driven.

Downtown Beloit window displays were judged Tuesday and the following winners were announced:

6. Best Family Theme - Overflowing Cup - “Three Christmases in One”
7. Best Business Theme - An Elegant Affair - “Winter Wedding”
8. Best Old Fashion Beloit Christmas - Jackson Tax Service - “You Can Count on Christmas”
9. Best use of Lighting - Mitchell's PC - “Mosaic”
10. Judges' “Best of Best” Pick- Curves.
Tree lighting event set in Roscoe
ROSCOE - A day of shopping and a tree lighting ceremony will take place today in Roscoe.
A special shopping event will take place at the Porter Park Lodge, 6545 Windflower Lane, with proceeds benefiting child safety events in Roscoe.
The tree lighting will take place at 5:30 p.m. at Main and Bridge streets. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served.
Vendors for the shopping event include: Pampered Chef, Gold Canyon Candles, The Ladybug Loft, Logaberger Baskets, Tastefully Simple, Arbonne, Tupperware, Ambit Energy, Avon, Signature Homestyle and more.
The sale will help the police department and village to provide car safety seats, child identification and fingerprinting kits, and other items.
