Buccaneers fall to 3-0 Dubuque
Horton scores 25, but BC loses, 82-59

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Beloit College's Buccaneers hung with the University of Dubuque for a half Friday night, but the teams were polar opposites in the second half.
Beloit shot just 20 percent after the break while Dubuque (3-0) converted 57.7 of its shots on its way to an 82-59 non-conference men's basketball victory at Stoltz Gymnasium.
The Bucs (0-2) are back in action at 4 p.m. Saturday when they host Martin Luther College at Flood Arena for another non-conference game.
Hopefully, if they find the range they'll be able to maintain it. The Bucs shot just over 48 percent in the first half against Dubuque and trailed only 43-37. Beloit was outscored 39-22 after that.
Beloit senior center Andy Horton scored 25 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for his second straight double-double. He had 12 points and 14 rebounds in a season-opening 62-57 loss to Benedictine University on Tuesday.
The returning All-Midwest Conference First Teamer converted 12-of-16 free throws, but was only 5-of-13 from the field. He did hit 3-of-5 from 3-point range.
Horton was the lone Buc scoring in double figures. Freshman Derek Carrier added nine points and Travis Towns was next high with seven.
Michael Okpalaeze led Dubuque with 20 points. Taylor Blum chipped in 15 and Demarvis Russell had 14. Okpalaeze also pulled down 10 rebounds as Dubuque enjoyed a 43-32 advantage.
€ Beloit College's women's basketball team will get its season underway when it travels to Rockford College to play Ashford University Saturday at 2 p.m.
