The Beloit College women's basketball team finished fourth in the Midwest Conference last season and league coaches predict a repeat for the Buccaneers this time around.
Beloit was awarded fourth place in a vote of league coaches for the pre-season poll.
St. Norbert College, the defending league and tournament champion, is picked to repeat with nine first-place votes. Lake Forest College is picked second followed by Carroll University and then Beloit.
The Bucs were 14-10 overall last season and 10-6 in the MWC.
Heading the list of returnees is team MVP Christine Brown, a 5-9 senior guard from Ruidoso, NM. She averaged 12.5 points and 9.9 rebounds per game and earned First Team All-MWC honors.
Also back is Mary Parker, a 5-7 junior guard from Kansasville, Wis. The Bucs' Defensive Player of the Year, she averaged 10.6 points, 7.3 rebounds and 4.5 assists with a team-leading 51 steals.
The Bucs open their 2008-09 season Nov. 22 when they play Ashford University at Rockford College. They open their home season Dec. 2 when they host Mount Mary College in Flood Arena.
