Hononegah duo competes at state

PEORIA, Ill. - Hononegah's Kevin Jacobs and Rachel MacDowell had high hopes entering the IHSA Class 3A state meet, but both walked away disappointed.

The junior Jacobs finished 67th with a time of 15:25 while MacDowell, a sophomore, was 138th with a time of 18:56.

Hoffman Estates Conant's Jeff Thode won the individual boys' title with a time of 14:18 while Naperville North won the team title. Geneva won the girls' title while Roselle Lake Park's Lindsay Flanagan won the individual race at 16:54.


SWIMMING: Beloit Memorial's season came to an end Saturday with a 10th place finish out of 12 teams at the Kenosha Bradford Sectional.

Emily Busam's time of 5:48.73 in the 500 freestyle was the fifth fastest in school history while Keke Butz posted the sixth fastest time in the 100 freestyle.

Racine Case won the meet while Kenosha Bradford was second.
