Gregory D. Joos, 51, of Beloit, WI, died Monday, October 27, 2008 in Beloit Memorial Hospital. He was born September 25, 1957 in Decatur, Illinois, the son of David Joos and Nancee Heinz Jacobson. Greg was a graduate of Peoria High School. He received a degree in fire science from Western Illinois, his masters in Public Administration from Sagamon State and received his JD Law degree from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul Minnesota and was licensed to practice law in the state of Wisconsin. Greg married Melissa Brooke Henderson on December 20, 1998 in Beloit, WI. Greg was originally a fireman for a number of years for the city of Peoria and then was promoted to the Peoria Fire Department Administration. He then was a human resource director in Cheektowaga, NY and Buffalo NY. Later he became the manager of Labor Relations for the Metropolitan Council in the Twin Cities and in 2002 he became the Director of Human Resources at the College of DuPage. Greg loved motorcycles and enjoyed fixing old motorcycles and cars. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and family.
Survivors include his wife, Brooke Joos of Beloit, WI; four children, Jordan Joos of Geneseo, NY, Troy Joos of Albany, NY, Roxanne Joos and Maxwell Joos both of Beloit, WI; his father, David Joos of Peoria, IL; his mother and step father, Nancy and Jake Jacobson of Peoria, IL; one sister, Lynn (Terry) Wiley of Morton, IL; one brother, Bryan (Angie) Joos of Chatham, IL; and his grandmother, Dorothy Heinz of Peoria, IL.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Arthur and Ruth Joos, and maternal grandfather, Gerald Heinz.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, November 1, 2008 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI. Burial will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 3, 2008 in East Lawn Cemetery.
Memorials may be given in Greg's name to the College of DuPage.
