Drive-through flu shots
A drive-through flu shot clinic will be offered 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Occupational Health and Sports Medicine Center, 1650 Lee Lane, Beloit.
Another drive-through clinic will be offered 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Nov. 4 at the center on Lee Lane.
The drive-through clinic requires no appointments. Shots are $30 each and payable by Medicare for those who bring their card.

Blood drive held Wednesday
A blood drive will be held noon - 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Rotary River Center, 1220 Riverside Drive, Beloit.
The blood drive is being held for the Rock River Valley Blood Center, which provides blood for Beloit Memorial Hospital, Rockford Memorial Hospital, SwedishAmerican Hospital, OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center and other area hospitals.
Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health on the day they give blood.

Lap-Band surgery discussed
ROSCOE - A seminar on the new Lap-Band weight loss procedure will be presented from 1 - 2 p.m. Nov. 9 at NorthPointe Health and Wellness Campus.
Dr. Karin Blumofe is the only surgeon in Beloit, Rockford and Janesville who is certified in this reversible and adjustable procedure.
The Lap-Band procedure uses laparoscopic surgical techniques to place a banding device around the top portion of a patient's stomach. It can help patients achieve long-term weight loss.

Class for diabetics set
A class to help those with diabetes understand changes they need to make and how to incorporate them into their lifestyle will be held from 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Nov. 1 at Beloit Memorial Hospital, 1969 W. Hart Road.
A diabetes educator will offer information to help diabetics and their families better manage the disease.
A continental breakfast and full lunch will be provided.

JANESVILLE - Mercy Health System is hosting its annual health care career showcase from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., Nov. 12 at Mercy Center in Mercy Hospital, 1000 Mineral Point Ave., Janesville.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that one of every five new jobs created by 2014 will be in the health services field.
Speakers in the areas of nursing, physical and occupational therapy, pharmacy and more will speak. Representatives from area colleges will answer questions on academic programs, financial aid and scholarships. Enter a drawing for a chance to win a Wii and enjoy light refreshments.
