Bank teller accused of theft
A part-time bank teller is accused of stealing approximately $14,000 from a Beloit bank.
LaFonda L. Richardson, 20, of Beloit was arrested for felony theft Friday by Town of Beloit Police following an investigation that began Sept. 25.
Officials from First National Bank, 1882 Inman Parkway, had contacted the Town of Beloit police who conducted an investigation that alleges Richardson took the cash over a two-week period. She allegedly used the cash to purchase basketball shoes for her boyfriend, a bed, children's clothing and a $3,000 engagement ring. She also used the bank funds to pay rent and make car payments, according to police reports. Only $400 of the cash was recovered.
Richardson was released with a court appearance date.
Teens charged for vandalism
Four 16-year-old boys confessed to causing $10,000 in damage to Krueger-Haskell Municipal Golf Course and will appear in municipal court for an initial appearance Oct. 16.
Vandals first struck the course during the city golf tournament in August when they tore divots near hole No.12. Later, they set off firecrackers and smoke bombs, created more divots and, among other destructive acts, broke one of the irrigation satellite boxes.
Beloit Police Department Capt. Bill Tyler said on or around Sept. 17, authorities arrested the teens under municipal violations of criminal damage after receiving a lead.
“They confessed to their involvement,” Tyler said.
Some had no prior criminal record.
Police referred the boys to municipal court and recommended they pay for the damage.
