Lottery credit deadline nears,
The deadline for claiming a lottery credit on 2007 property tax bills nears. Taxpayers must submit a late claim to the Department of Revenue for 2007 lottery credits by the end of September.
Owners of a home in Wisconsin who used that home as their primary residence on Jan. 1, 1007, may claim the credit. An amount after the words “Lottery & Gaming Credit” in the middle section of 2007 property tax bills indicates taxpayers have claimed the credit. Only one credit may be claimed. Rental homes, vacation homes, businesses and bare land do not qualify for the credit.
Those who received the credit last year will receive it again this year. Those who did not receive the credit, but lived in their home on Jan. 1, 2007, should file a late claim by the end of the month for last year's credit. Forms for the credit may be obtained at the Rock County Treasurer's office in the Rock County Courthouse, 51 S. Main St., Janesville.
