Rockford junior golfer takes title by carding 75
Lucas Nelson of Rockford posted the top score of the day in the 2008 Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois (SWANI) Junior Golf Tournament at Krueger-Haskell Golf Course Wednesday.
Nelson shot a 5-over par 75 to win the 17-18 division by two strokes over Bryce Davis and three over Andrew Tearman. Cory Fell was just four shots back.
The 15-16 age bracket went to Janesville's Greg Ruef with a 77. Two Janesville golfers, Jim Luete and Jordan Bruvick tied for second with scores of 78 and Beloit's Brody Mauel was fourth at 79.
Janesville's Ryne Clatworthy outdueled another Janesville golfer, Gilbert Enriquez to win the 13-14 division, 81 to 82. Rockford's Danny Gorman and Janesville's Peyton Graham tied at 84.
Taylor Rumple of Rockford won the girls division with a score of 83, seven shots better than Kelsey Nelson of Belvidere.
In the 9-hole 12-and-under division, Janesville's Hunter Salmon won with a 49 score, two shots better than Patrick Shea of Menomonee Falls, Wis.
