12 departments fight Clinton fire

CLINTON - No one was injured Friday in a house fire in the Town of Clinton that required the aid of 12 area fire departments.
The Clinton Fire Department responded to the call of a residential fire at about 12:40 p.m. Friday in the 10600 block of East County Road P, south of the Village of Clinton. Heavy smoke and flames could be seen coming from the basement, according to a statement from Clinton Fire Chief John Reindfleisch.
All the residents of the home had safely gotten out of the house, but at the time were attempting to get back in the house to retrieve animals.
No one was injured in the blaze, but two firefighters received minor cuts, according to Clinton Fire Department reports.
Fire crews from Clinton, Sharon, Darien, City of Beloit, Town of Turtle, Evansville, Fontana, Town of Beloit, North Boone, Orfordville, Milton, Janesville and Edgerton supplied aid during the fire.
The Rock County Sheriff's Department closed the road during the fire.
The house has major water, smoke and fire damage throughout, but the majority of the damage was in the basement.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Reindfleisch said.
