Trojans rip Chiefs in RVC baseball: Jacobs records win as Turner rolls, 11-1

WALWORTH - Thanks to four bases on balls and six Big Foot errors, Beloit Turner was able to turn six hits into 11 runs in an 11-1 rout of the Chiefs Tuesday night in Rock Valley Conference baseball.

The Trojans scored all the runs they really needed in the first inning when Mike Jacobs singled, Justin Johnson knocked him in with a double and Johnson later scored as well on an error.

Turner tacked on three runs in the second inning, four in the fourth and single runs in the sixth and seventh to improve to 2-0 in the RVC. Steve Porter was 2-for-2 with two runs scored for the Trojans. Kasey Hallmark was just 1-for-5, but scored twice and knocked in two runs. Jaron Bertelsen was 1-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs and Mike Jacobs tallied three runs in addition to picking up the victory on the mound.

Jacobs started and was reliever by A.J. Bernstein. Bertelsen came on to work the final 1 2/3 innings.

The Trojans will conclude a suspended game with Evansville today at home. Turner led 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning when rain caused that game to be suspended.

Clinton 11, Brodhead 5: The Cougars' Zach Wisowaty, Josh Danielson and Kiefer Cary combined to go 7-for-10 with six runs scored, three doubles, two triples and five RBIs.

Clinton never trailed after scoring twice in the first inning. The Cougars (2-1) added four more in both the fourth and fifth innings. Brodhead, held to five hits by Grant Oldenburg and Cary, scored all five of its runs in the fifth.

Danielson ws 3-for-4 with a double and triple, three runs scored and two RBIs. Wisowaty was 2-for-3 with a double and triple, three runs scored and an RBI and Cary was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.

Oldenburg went five innings, allowing two earned runs and striking out 10. Cary struck out two more and didn't allow an earned run.

Edgerton 26, Parkview 0: The Crimson Tide scored 14 times in the first inning and a dozen more in the second at Orfordville. The visitors had 16 hits.
