Grief support offered
Beloit Regional Hospice will begin a seven-week grief support group on April 1.

The groups will meet once a week 5:30 - 7 p.m. at Beloit Regional Hospice, 655 Third St., Suite 200, Beloit. There is no charge for the support group.

Grief support groups are open to anyone who has experienced a death. Meeting with other people who have experience a similar loss can provide encouragement and support. Coping skills and various aspects of the grieving process are discussed.

Fitness forum set
ROSCOE - NorthPointe Health and Wellness will host a free fitness forum April 4.

“Spring into Shape” will be held 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the NorthPointe campus, 5606 E. Rockton Road, Roscoe. It will offer a wide variety of fitness experts and information to help motivate you to “Live Life to the Fittest”. NorthPointe's degreed and certified fitness team will introduce the latest and most effective methods of reaching your fitness goals including: educational handouts, personal training seminars, and group exercise demonstrations.

There will be an opportunity to win a one-year membership, massages, personal training sessions, gift certificates for Mary's Market, NorthPointe Pro-Shop items and more.

Red Shoe Run slated
ROCKFORD - The Red Shoe Run, to promote organ and tissue donation will be held at 8 a.m., April 12 at the Northern Illinois University Rockford campus, 8500 E. State St.

Teams of a maximum of five runners or walkers can register for this 5-K run/walk. All teams are eligible for race pledge awards. First and second place prizes will be awarded to the teams raising the most money. Awards also will be will be given in 14 age categories.

The entry fee is $20. The first 300 teams registering will receive a long-sleeved T-shirt.

Registration deadline is before noon April 4.

Parenting discussed
MACHESNEY PARK - “Parenting For The Love Of It,” is the title of a parenting conference to be held 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. April 12 at the Hilltop Ministry Center, 8301 Mitchell Road, Machesney Park.

Family therapists from Beloit Memorial Hospital will be among the speakers on issues of parenthood and raising healthy Families. Dr. Jeff Grumley, author and child and family therapist, will be the keynote speaker.

Workshops will include “How to Avoid Bumpy Blending,” “Talking About Tough Stuff With Teens,” “Tot Rock,” “Positive Parenting,” and more.

The registration fee is $45 if received by March 31. Registration after that is $55.
