‘Sen. Feingold protects rights'
In your February 20 editorial you slam Senator Russ Feingold for his efforts to make an important point: the “USA Patriot Act” is mostly acceptable, but the parts that aren't imperil our individual rights. He persists in this admirable effort although the odds are strongly stacked against him.
Throughout his public career, Mr. Feingold has been a constant and unfailing protector of our rights in the face of both measured criticism and childish name-calling such as you used in your editorial.
The saying goes, “What is right is not always popular, and what is popular is not always right.” Senator Feingold knows the truth of this, thank goodness. This country owes him a debt of gratitude for his unflagging efforts for the good of all.
