Support groups merge
Two support groups at Beloit Memorial Hospital are merging to form one free monthly support group focused on individual health.
The new "Highlight on Health" group will meet the first Wednesday of each month. The first meeting will be 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. Sept. 7 at the hospital at 1969 W. Hart Road.
Previously, the Hart to Heart Support Group and the Diabetes Support Group would offer monthly meetings to promote healthy lifestyles. The new group will combine efforts.
The topic for the first meeting will be People with Arthritis Can Exercise (PACE). Two PACE instructors from the hospital's Riverside Terrace will be the featured speakers.

Hospice benefit set
Beloit Regional Hospice will host its first gala fund-raising event, "Doves and Diamonds: Celebrate Hospice," 7 - 11 p.m. Sept. 17 in the Beloit Mall Center Court.
Swing music will be featured at the event, provided by Bopology. Refreshments and hors d'oeuvers also will be served. A silent auction and live auction also will be part of the event, featuring a chance to win a blue diamond provided by Brill Jewelers.
Tickets for the event are $50 each. Tickets are available at Beloit Regional Hospice, Blackhawk Bank, Brill Jewelers, First National Bank, Gateway Community Bank, M&I Bank and Visit Beloit.
