Sign language taught
Sign language classes are being offered at Beloit Memorial Hospital starting Sept. 12.

Two beginners level classes will be held on Mondays and Tuesdays, Sept. 12 and 13. Beginners II classes will be held on Wednesdays starting Sept. 14. All classes will be for 10 weeks through mid-November. A $25 fee will be charged for the classes.

Books for the classes, "Signing Illustrated" for the beginners class, and "Signing Made Easy" for beginners II, can be purchases at the Turtle Creek Book store in Beloit. Classes will be taught by Lesetta Thompson.

To pre-register, call the hospital education department at (608)364-5139. Confirmation registration and payment will be done 2:30 - 6 p.m. Sept. 8 at Beloit Memorial Hospital, 1969 W. Hart Road.


Blood drive slated
A blood drive for the Rock River Valley Blood Center will be held 3 - 7 p.m. Sept. 26 at Clare Island at the corner of Route 2 and Prairie Hill Road in South Beloit.

The Rock River Valley Blood Center provides blood and related products to Beloit Memorial Hospital as well as the three Rockford hospitals - Rockford Memorial Hospital, SwedishAmerican Hospital and OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center.

Donors must be at least 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds. For more information, call (815)703-2223.

New doctor in area
ROCKFORD - Dr. Robert Glovsky, an internal medicine specialist, recently joined Rockford Health Physicians at 7002 N. Alpine Road, Loves Park.

Glovsky served his residency and internship at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester. He earned his medical degree from Boston University.
